Our History

Once upon a time, there was a family from Jaraguá do Sul who loved to spend their summers at the beach: the Vailatti family. In 1990, the father, Osmar, passed by a beautiful house for sale at Praia Alegre in Penha. He brought the family to see it, and they were all enchanted immediately. However, to make their dream of a beach house come true, they needed the help of his mother-in-law, Dona Dilva. Together, they purchased the house and soon were gathered there, enjoying unique moments with family, friends, and nature.

Weekend routines included swimming in the sea, collecting seashells, fishing by boat, and visiting Ilha Feia. The family and friends gathered at the Casa da Praia Alegre from summer to summer. The three sons, Pablo, Diego, and Ramon, grew up and had a great time, always bringing their friends along.

Everyone loved the house, the almost private beach, the sea view, the islands, the rivers, the pool, and so much more.

But over time, all of this began to feel insufficient.

So, they soon thought about sharing these joyful moments with even more people.

During this time, the neighbor had put the house next door up for sale, giving the Vailatti family the opportunity to buy it and, together with the Casa da Praia Alegre, build and offer lodging, gastronomy, and leisure services to others. They carried out a simple but cozy and comfortable project.

On December 23, 2000, the Pousada Pedra da Ilha was inaugurated with initially 19 rooms, including 3 with whirlpool bathtubs and a beautiful restaurant facing the sea, which is still located in the old Casa da Praia Alegre.

During each trip, the mother, Rosane, brought various decorative objects, dishes, clothes, and everything with great care and dedication to the Pousada.

The place became charming. The growth of Beto Carrero World Park empowered the Pousada to become a success, and the dream started to take on larger dimensions. In 2003, the facility was expanded to 31 rooms, with the addition of thermal whirlpool baths, saunas, an auditorium, and a wooden living area.

In 2009, another significant step was taken with the inauguration of a new wing comprising 2 blocks of 4 floors each, totaling 40 new rooms, most of them with whirlpool bathtubs and a sea view. There were also presidential suites with internal and external whirlpool baths, a new and spacious front pool, and solar-heated hot tubs. But it didn't stop there. In 2012, another important expansion took place, as the restaurant facing the sea was enlarged, and 7 rooms were added to the Pousada through the renovation of the suites in the old family house.

Today, Pousada Pedra da Ilha boasts 77 rooms, including 29 suites with whirlpool bathtubs, 19 of them with a sea view, 4 duplex suites, and 4 presidential suites. Finally, the dream is now lived not only by the family and friends but also by all the Pousada's clients and staff. The architecture, always highly praised since the initial design and subsequent renovations and expansions, were conceived and executed by the son, Pablo José Vailatti, who is an architect by profession and started his work in Penha with the Pousada project, where he remains to this day.
